Visit from the Milwaukee Fire Department at Herman

Friday was an exciting day at our Herman center! We had a special visit from the Milwaukee Fire Department, Station 7 and their firetruck! The children were thrilled to meet the crew and learn all about the important work firefighters do in our community.

The highlight of the morning was getting to explore the firetruck up close! Children peeked inside the cab and saw the tools and gear that the firefighters use day-to-day. Their faces were full of wonder as they listened to the sirens and saw the flashing lights while wearing their Junior Fire Chief helmets.

The children also got to learn about not hiding from firefighters in an emergency, what to do if they hear a smoke alarm going off, and who to call if there is a fire. This information is essential, even for our littlest learners.

Visits like this help our children connect with their community helpers, build an understanding of safety, and spark new interests and ideas. A huge thank you to the firefighters at the Milwaukee Fire Department for taking the time to share their day with us and for all they do to keep our community safe!
